The exhibition NANO, presented at Visualiseringscenter C from October 27, 2012, to April 28, 2013, takes audiences on a journey into the most remote parts of the microcosmos. Advanced microscopy and visualization techniques allow us to better understand the molecules of life and to develop new medicines and nanoscale materials. Nanotechnology involves studying, manipulating, and assembling materials on a scale of 1–100 nm. The exhibition presents current research findings, introduces some of the people working in the field, and explores both the possibilities and risks of nanotechnology.
Many of the concepts in NANO are based on results from, and close collaboration with, the research project NanoForm. Led by Professor Cheryl Akner-Koler from Campus Grythyttan, School of Restaurant and Hotel Management, Örebro University, the project aimed to develop and strengthen artistic research methodologies to investigate the relationships between nanostructures and haptics/tactile perception. More information about the project can be found at www.nanoform.se.
